Binxy Cats
The Binxy Cats cumulative project combines creativity, critical-thinking, and content. In this assignment, students assume the role of marketing director in a company that produces Binxy Cats, a well-loved candy. In groups of 3 - 5, students will create a commercial marketing their candy. This candy can be of any variety, and it requires students to market it on their own terms. Students are also required to individually fill out a worksheet, complete graphs, and research information that will be used in their commercial.
Rational for Project
The unit covers textbook chapters 1-6. These chapters discusses the costs of making economic decisions, production possibilities, the theories and ideas behind economics, supply and demand, elasticity, and externalities. This cumulative project assesses all of these components. The project uses media, written work, research, graphing, and short answer to assess the student's knowledge of the unit material. These tasks help different types of learners convey an understanding of the material. This assignment allows students to think critically about each chapter and connects the content to life.

Sample of Completed Project
Once students receive the step-by-step directions, they will be allowed to choose and collaborate with their team members. Although all graphing, worksheets, research, and written information is completed on an individual basis, students will have to agree on general information before beginning. Below is a sample of student work. These examples use teen jargon. Unfortunately I have no translations. (Sorry, Teen Language Learners)
